Background

Atopic dermatitis, also known as atopic eczema, is an atopic, hereditary, and non-contagious skin disease characterized by chronic inflammation of the skin. The skin of a patient with atopic dermatitis reacts abnormally and easily to irritants, food, and environmental allergens and becomes red, flaky and very itchy. Atopic dermatitis afflicts humans, particularly young children. The skin disease is common with about 20% of the world's children population. The forecast is that this number will grow by 10% in the next decade.

Volunteers between thae ages of 2-65 years old suffering from Atopic Dermatitis

Start of Test: 26/4/2006

End Of Test: 2/5/2007

The process: The participants were asked to apply the ointment twice a day, in the morning and evening on the effected area, on one side of the body only. The other effected side was a control area for comparison purposes (like placebo) and not treated at all.

• The participants were asked to eliminate the use of all sorts of body soap or any other chemical preparation on the trialed and control areas.
• The tests and comparison were conducted in the beginning and end of the trial after two weeks.
• The participants were asked to document the ointment application every day in a diary and were asked to state any side effects.

Summary Results:

• The SKIN SAVER treatment in the damaged skin by the Atopic Dermatitis disease significantly improves the scale, redness and lichenification parameters at the treated area in comparison to the control area.
• These findings indicate that the ointment is safe for use and effective in reducing scale, redness and lichenification of the skin in Atopic Dermatitis patients.
